How Jump Higher
is proud to present to you some good exercises and tips to increase your vertical.
IMPORTANT: These exercises should be thought of as being similar to lifting weights. Start out slowly and only do maybe 20 repetitions of each exercise MAX per day. Slowly build up from there. If you were getting into weightlifting you wouldn’t start at 400 lbs., now would you? It should be no different for learning how to jump higher.
Jump Rope - If you are in the sport of basketball and have ever attended a basketball camp or clinic they probably made you jump rope for “warm up.” It not only helps warm you up, it also improves your vertical. I’d recommend doing this daily, for at least thirty minutes.
Deep Knee Bends - Start standing straight up. Then bend at the knees slowly while keeping your back straight. Keep bending at the knees until you are as low as possible without any pain. Slowly stand back up again.
Deep Knee Bend Jumps - These are similar to the deep knee bends, except when you begin to crouch down and get low, move quickly, getting as low as possible. Then push out and leap upwards as high as possible. Almost like you are trying to “takeoff.” Do this repeatedly. When you land from launching yourself upwards, go immediately back into the crouch and explode upwards again.
Toe Raises - Stand up straight and then push up onto your “tippie toes.” Come back down to flat-footed. Do this in a slow, steady motion. I’d recommend repeating it about 40 times at first, then build up to around 70-85 after a few weeks of doing the exercise. Bonus Tip - After doing these for a few weeks, try adding some small weights (ankle weights would be best if you have them.) The weights will help immensely.
In Action Simulation - If you can jump high from standing still that is all good and well, but you also want to ensure that you don’t need a lot of “prep” to get yourself up. When doing these exercises, also try to keep in mind that you will need to jump higher in competition. Try to simulate it as much as possible, until you get to the point where you can leap higher without having to really think about it.
Recommended - Another great resource which I recommend and used personally (you can read my story here) is the Vertical Explosion Manual. It is guaranteed (with 100% money back) to vastly improve your vertical quickly. Give it a shot; there is no risk and you have nothing to lose…I really think you’ll love it!
Thanks for reading guys…hope this helps you learn how to jump higher!
